With which country or territory is this flag associated?

Having lived in Jersey for more than 30 years before I moved to South Africa I would deserve to be hung, drawn and quatered had I not got that right. Jersey has its own Parliament "The States", makes it's own laws, is not part of the EU (whoopee), prints it's own notes which are not legal tender in the UK despite being Pound notes and having the Wueen's Head on them etc, and has a different legal system than the UK with the laws covering personal matters being much more akin to those of Norman France. Commercial Law is basically British Law. The "costumes" of the Judges (Bailiff, deputy Bailiff and Royal Court Commissioners) is also different to that in the UK. The Island (with the other Channel Islands is also the only place in the British Isles invaded by the Germans in WWII. The language of the Royal Court and the Laws passed in the States were in French until 1962 and if you are an Advocate of the Court you would be advisable to speak French although they no longer have to study at Caen University in France for part of their training. There is no separation of Advocates and Solicitors as there is in the UK, although Solicitors do not the right to appear in the Royal Court. It's a fascinating place

My maternal great grandfather immigrated to Canada from Jersey in 1903.Sometimes I wish he had stayed. With my luck I would have become a dairy farmer instead of a banker.

Missed this one big time never heard ofJersey but looked it up on the map but I didn't find Normandy but it showed Guernsey or Jersey close to Paris but nearer the Celtic Sea! Good ques.
