I loved the book and the movie. I grew up in the South. Don't you see the parallels today between the poor man accused in the book and how today all miscreants are black or oriental or Spanish speaking? Not much has changed.

I fell in love with the story, both reading it and through the film. What I love about multiple reads is that you hopefully learn to understand and appreciate the themes and values expressed in them. For example, when I first read it in school, I didn't understand the means behind the ambiguous final line. "And she would be there for Jem when he did." Upon reading it when I was older, I took away the meaning of being there for someone when you really need them.

The Scottsboro Boys is the name of the book based on the accusations against the nine black teenagers. The girl later refudiated it.

The original had Atticus a KKK man. The publishers had her re-write it and turn him into Saint Atticus. But I think it's just about one of literature's greatest books.
