#8 - While in both Spanish and French (Latin languages) "W" is called "double V" ("doble v" and "double v" respectively), in Portuguese (another Latin language), "W" is called "dabliu", which comes from English! But "W" is called "Ve" in German, while "V" is "Fau" - so VW is pronounced "fau-ve"

Quite interesting indeed. But, the Germans don’t call it “double V” at all. The letter W is always pronounced like the English V, the German V can be like the English V or like F. The German word for bird is Vogel with the V spoken like F.
