Geography Story: 5 mysterious places where unexplainable events occur

There are many places in the world that attract and frighten us at the same time. People often lose, animals behave unusually and ghost appear at such places. Scientists offer different theories but none of them are proven right. Are you brave enough to read further?

In the end of the 19th century, gold was found there. That's why many people wanted to visit the place to try their luck.

  • In 1898, six gold hunters vanished in the deadman valley.
  • 7 years later, two brothers MacLeods and their comrade also disappeared.
  • 3 years later, people accidentally found 9 decapitated corpses.

Mysterious vanishings continue to this day.

Natives believe that Sasquatches are to blame for those deaths. People often told stories about those strange cryptids, looking like big hairy men and their footsteps found in the valley. According to the most probable version, it is the work of a group of thugs. However, the police didn't find anything.

On last days of summer, in the mountain valley Jatinga, India, strange things take place. At midnight, flocks of birds fly here almost unconsciously. They are circling so low that natives take them down with a pole. Some birds fall down and do not try to escape one who picks them up

Citizens of the valley believe that Gods award them for their righteous lives with this easy prey.

Scientists say that the birds are hypnotized by the coincidence of many factors: the new moon, wind and darkness. Thus we can assume short geomagnetic anomaly in this very valley of falling birds.

Luckily, the name isn't connected with the disappearance of people or cattle. The name was invented during the California Gold Rush. You can find sailing stones in the valley. It's a geological phenomenon. Traces after the stones can achieve dozens of meters!

According to the scientists, stones move due to temperature fall in winter, riverside wind, the quality of the ground and even climate changes. Today, stones move less, because of the Global warming.

At the first sight, this lake may seem quite usual but it stays cold even in the hottest days. There's no life in this lake: no fish, or even insects. People often drown there. The creepiest thing is that the corpses do not surface, they stand on the bottom like candles. Even professionals can't be under the water for longer than five minutes. They experience the lack of oxygen even if they have enough in the air bottle.

There are two theories:

  • The water is rich with bacteria that produce stinkdamp - even small portions of the agent influences a person's mind.
  • There is a crack on the bottom of the lake and toxic gas comes of the crack killing all the living things.

However, there is no one to test this lake.

There are two theories:

Up to this moment, about 70-100 suicide corpses are found annually. Sometimes people come to the forest with the intention to end their lives, but some say that the forest persuades people to do so. As if those who lose their path in the forest become obsessed with unbearable anxiety and depression.

The only verifiable information about the forest is that compasses do not work at the foot of Mt. Fuji. There is a strong magnetic anomaly that can probably influence people's perception. A sign is placed at the entrance to the forest, saying "Your life is the most precious thing you have, that you got from your parents. Think about your family. Do not try to survive it alone, call us 0555-22-0110."

I am surprised not to find the Bermuda Triangle in the list! Been through it dozens of times in my 35 years in the Royal Canadian Navy.
