Nature Story: 10 vanishing animal species that future generations might never see

The topic of extinction of endangered species of animals is one that is not given enough focus on. This is a direct topic that everyone of us should get involved in either actively or by simply being informed about it. Listed below are animals that may become extinct very soon.

#1 The Sumatran Orangutan

The first on this list is the Sumatran orangutan. This species of ape, characterized by its reddish-brown coat, long arms and no tail is known to be critically endangered. According to the researchers, the population of these creatures have seen an 80 percent decline in about 75 years.

#2 The Polar Bear

Polar bears have been estimated to become extinct in the next 100 years. Climate change and oil development has led to the loss of habitat for these furry large bears living in the arctic circle.

#3 The Red Wolf

These critically endangered wolves were held in captivity for about 30 years to help them survive. From just 17 red wolves, their number has increased to about a hundred today. Regardless, the threat of deforestation still remains and no one can tell if they will survive another 50 years.

#4 The Siberian Tiger

This endangered species is the largest of felines in existence today. However, the population of these large cats faces a major decline. At the moment, there are only about 400-500 of these tigers alive.

#5 The Sifaka

Back in 2008, only 250 sifakas were alive. Further research is to be conducted in the coming years. Among other factors, these animals face the danger of deforestation and hunting activities.

#6 The Vaquita

The Vaquita is a small porpoise that lives in the Gulf of California, the stretch of water between Baja California and Mexico. These critically endangered creatures have been estimated to be only 100 to 300 in existence. This figure faces a further steady decline.

#7 The Western Gorilla

The Western Gorilla's population faces a critical decline. Western Gorillas are largely affected by hunting and poaching. According to research, the population of these animals will be reduced further by a large percentage by 2046.

#8 Black Rhino

The population of the Black Rhino, one of the oldest groups of mammals, is constantly facing massive decline. There are, according to estimate, 4,848 of them left in existence.

#9 The Humpback Whale

Currently, there are about 18,000-20, 000 humpback whales left in the sea. These large sea mammals have continually been targeted for several reasons. The figures of these creatures gradually continue to dwindle.

#10 The Leatherback Turtle

There are about 34,000 female leatherback turtles in existence today. The leatherback turtle is largely sought after for commercial purposes. The population of these creatures will gradually dwindle until some form of preservation action is carried out.

Having read about the sad reality of these animals, some form of empathy must have developed towards these endangered species.

The way man has destroyed the atmosphere, the planet's animal and plant life is horrific. It's sad that future generations will not know the beauty of God's creations.

I guess money is more important than murder is bad. Deforestation in order to have more arable land to cultivate has to be compared in cost to losing species after species. I hope there are scientists and biologists enough to save the dna of the dying species, at least. I just don’t see the one percent giving up drilling for oil, mining for diamonds and precious metals, or retraining people to do different jobs than agriculture.

The polar bear has made a huge comeback. The reason you see them so far south now is NOT because their habitat is dwindling because of global warming but because their population has increased so much. An increase in population means an increase in hunting grounds is required.
