My aunt is a great niece of Edwin Hubble and was invited by NASA along with the rest of her family to Cape Canaveral for the launch of the telescope. Pretty cool.

It will burn up once it enters our atmosphere.

Many of the "photos" taken by this remarkable telescope/camera are themselves truly amazing. The one that I find incredible is the Eagle Nebula with its 4 iconic pillars of dust that look as though they are some miles high the resolution of the "photo" is so clear. Yet they are 10 light years tall (nearly 51 trillion miles!!!!). The nebula is on its last legs and in some 1000 years disaster will happen when super heated gas from a supernova will slam into the nebula and the pillars which are already eroding will topple and be "washed away".

Very interesting facts! But how many watts does my kitchen kettle use in relation to the 600 watts for the Hubble!!😄

Good info but a couple of additions. It can easily 'reach' the tune but the focussed heat would destroy the lenses and camera. More correctly it is a massive telescope with a extremely sensitive camera attached to it. Finally the telescope actually has glasses. When the first sent it up they discovered they had ground toe curvature of the mirror incorrectly and had to send up a corrective lens.

Rich Davis, Awesome! Good to have family that is involved in universal projects. Everything about outer space is extremely interesting. Watch the DVD "Indescribable". It shows how great God is in and through His universe.

The pictures the telescope transmits back to earth are truly amazing, such as the Horsehead Nebula which is 1.5 kilo light away and 4 light years across (almost unbelievable distances when you consider a light year is 9,460,730,472,581 kms away!!!) or the Eagle Nebula (which is 70 kilo light years away and 40 light years in diameter) and which is one of the best known pictures taken by the telescope. A kilo light year is a light year multiplied by 1,000!!!!!

Great information. Why can't the telescope be captured and moved to a higher orbit to lengthen it's life in space? 😊
