9 gravestones by people whose sense of humor is immortal

Spike Milligan said for years before his death that he would put ‘See, I told you I was sick.’ on his headstone, and he did. I love poking about in cemeteries and I’ve seen some great headstones in my time. The best - or worst - is in a cemetery at The Bight, a tiny cemetery near the Manning River, just over the bridge from Wingham, a small town in NSW Australia. It reads: ‘Weep not for me as you pass by, As you are now, so once was I. As I am now, so you will be. Prepare for death to be with me.’ Cheerful soul! I remember thinking that she must have been a miserable old bat who didn’t want anyone to enjoy their lives now that she’s dead.

In the North of Spain lived a busy man called José Guillén. He commuted daily from his home in a little town, to Vigo. Every day he took his car and drove to the train station, On his way back, he mounted the car again and got home. One day he was late, and saw the train approaching the station, that was on the other side of the rails, and thought he could make it, cross the rails before the train passed and so, get on time to his work. He accelerated wildly, trying to get across the rails and... failed. The epitaph read: "Yace aquí Pepe Guillén / que aprendió, por imprudente ) que es mejor PERDER el tren / que ENCONTRÁRSELO de frente" Here lies Pepe Guillén, who learned by his lack of caution, that you'd rather LOSE the train, than FINDING it face to face.

I guess the ouija board was an invitation to talk with the resident corpse!
