It says "memories we all experienced and will never forget", but not everyone experiences all of these, as they don't have a happy childhood. I , personally don't remember all of these things, due to an illness that caused brain damage, so a large part of my childhood is a blur. That said, I do have some very happy memories and Christmas is the main one. I can remember tge feeling of Christmas, the excitement and build up of tge big day. I still feel it every Christmas now.

Growing up in Kenya on the slopes of Mt Kenya about 7,000 ft above sea level, we the kids spent our childhood outside in the country. We made our own games, climbed trees and ate coffee beans as cherries. We only came home to eat and sleep. I felt sorry for my American born child for never knowing how nature and out door childhood shapes your mind. Be well.

I remember all these things! But my favourite thing was staying with my wee Irish granny at her cottage in the Scottish countryside. As I was a sickly child, and the middle of three girls, this was my oasis, as I grew up in the capital, Edinburgh. I adored the quietness of the acres of grounds that I could play in!

I had a wonderful childhood. I'm glad I grew up before computer games 🎮. We actually played outside in the summertime til it got dark. We only came in for dinner and then it was back out to play. Those were the days. I feel sorry for today's kids never getting to experience a carefree childhood like mine. Christmas 🎄 was a magical time. Lots of family, friends, food and presents 🎁. I woukd live my childhood over again if I could. Well I can always go back and relive my memories.

Yes , now I'm Older and I see what is happening with Children these Days. I look back on my/our Childhood with great fondness. Simple times, no stress or worry about who is popular on media. We went out for walks/Bike rides for miles, made camps in the Woods, climbed Trees, played more Sports, hurtled down Snow covered slopes on Sledges. Swam and fished in the River. Went home muddy, wet, happy, hungry, tired, fit (not obese). Great memories .

I grew up on a farm and do have good memories of climbing trees and up in the hay mow to hunt for the new kittens. I helped my mom to clean the house, not my favorite job, but did it anyway, even helped my dad out in the field by driving the tractor while he and my brother stacked bales of hay on the wagon and afterwards guiding the tractor while they put the hay in the mow. My brother taught me how to ride a bike and many times we had races to see who could get to the bottom of the graveled hill after collecting the mail. I didn't experience sleepovers as there werent any girls that lived nearby.

Never spent time with my grandparents as they had all passed before I was born, never woke up to the smell of my mother cooking, if anyone was cooking breakfast it would have been my father. Don’t recall seeing my friends after a long absence, lastly don’t recall feeling happy and content every day for no reason.

I grew up with great parents & had a great childhood! I grew up in a small rural farming community in very southern Illinois, farm country. It's a great place to raise children. A very, very low crime rate. Therefore we had more freedoms than children who lived in the city. We could ride our bikes all over town without fear. We knew everyone & they knew our family. If you needed anything, there was always a kind neighbor to help. We got up early in warm weather, ate a big breakfast (& yes, I can smell my Mom's cooking & coffee brewing) & then we were off. We played until Mom hollered for us to come home for lunch & then we were off again until supper. We had all the things we needed to play, roller skates, a wagon, bike & for winter ice skates, a sled & snow boots. I was the 4th daughter & child so I taught myself to do many things like ride a bike. Our front yard had a gentle slope downwards & I used it to get me started on my bike. When I fell it didn't hurt because the ground & grass cushioned the fall. I did it over & over again until I was riding like a pro. I had many great times with the other neighborhood children, my parents & grandparents. Thank you for reminding me of the best memories of my life!

ninakamwene, Sounds like a wonderful childhood. Not all American children grew up in the city. I grew up in a really small rural farming community & we did many of the same things you did except for eating coffee beans. We would raid our parents vegetable garden, pluck a ripe tomato right from the vine, rinse it off with the garden hose & eat it like an apple. We had a woods (Forrest) right in our backyard & many summer days were spent in the woods where it was cooler, building forts, swimming in the creek, etc. We were lucky in that a very well used Native American trail (The Kahokia trail) ran right threw our back yard. They would travel that trail back & forth according to the season, to hunt. We would spend many days digging in our backyard for Indian relics. We found Indian beads, tomahawks, tools such as hide scrapers, once we found part of a moccasin that was petrified. Like you, we got up early, had breakfast & went off to play until our Mother hollered for us to come home for a meal. Thank you for sharing! You brought back some great childhood memories for me.❤

Elaine Mcgregor, I'm so envious! I've always wanted to visit Scotland & Ireland. The countryside is absolutely beautiful & so green. My maternal grandfather was half Irish. I always wanted to go & try & find the village where his Mother was born. Thank you for sharing your story.

I don’t remember much of my early childhood. I know i never climbed a tree, never had a sleepover, don’t remember much about kite fluing except that i found them boring. And, on the radio, when i could control it, i was more interested in finding an oversea station, as we could do that with our radio set. And we can go on in life not doing any of these. And still have a happy childhood .

The smell of mom's cooking in the morning will always be a comforting memory. Bacon, eggs and toast. I still have my 2 stuffed animals from age 4 or 5.

I remember most of these things. I used to be a very happy child. I used to entertain myself and read a lot. My happiness came mainly from the capacity to be happy with little.
