Helpful in understanding our babies. We had three of our dogs die within 11 months. They were all ages 12 to 14 years of age. Since they were rescued dogs, we were not certain of exact age. It was hard to go from 4 dogs to 1 dog in one year's time. We still have our 8 year old Angel, and now have a new 2 year old Rosie. We still mourn our Pixie, Marie, and Dottie.

I always wondered what the actual age was for cats to human age. My kitty, which is my profile picture, lived for 20 years with me. Now I know that when she passed she was a very senior kitty. Nah! This might be generally true for physical age but certainly not behavioural age! Our beagle at 8 was as naughty as a 2 year old and as active as a 6 year old child!

Vetinarians can not agree on this post. I was told my 17yr old is approx 112 in human years not 84 as per the chart.

John J Meirose, If you will notice after the second year for small dogs the increase is 4 human years for every dog year so after 16 which equals 80 then it would follow that 17 = 84, 18 = 88, 19 =92, and 20 = 96. I'm sure you can continue if this isn't far enough.
