Halloween is coming! We are getting ready for the celebration and for eating tons of pumpkin puree as well. However, we have a vague idea of how pumpkins grow. Would you like to change that?

In Europe and British isles and protectorates pumpkins are more of a vegetable , rather than a fruit. Hence most are roasted as a compliment to meats or made into a soup.

I didn't know that pumpkins were a kind of gourd. I doubt if they would dry out like regular gourds do tho, if they did they would make great bird houses. We always roast the pumpkin seeds to eat after we carve the pumpkins. That is a part of our Halloween tradition.
