Lacrosse was originally invented by eastern plains natives in Canada hundreds of years ago. When European settlers discovered it in the 1800's, they changed it into what was called field Lacrosse, and was declared Canada's national sport in 1859. In the 1930's, it transformed into box lacrosse, and was put on record as Canada's summer sport. It became even more official in 1994 when parliament passed the national sports act.

Lacrosse is a game which consists of sticks with hard bubble nets at the end, a hard rubber ball, and a goal net at each end of the play field. The lacrosse sticks are used to throw the ball to each other in hopes of tossing the ball into their opponents net; kind of a mix of hockey, baseball, soccer and football. There are 10 players per team in field lacrosse and 6 players in box lacrosse. The other difference between field lacrosse and box lacrosse is: field lacrosse is played outdoors and box lacrosse is played indoors.
