In the blockbuster 1982 science fiction film "Blade Runner", the dying replicant Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer) delivers the following lines to Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), whose life Batty has just saved. He does this despite the fact that Deckard was sent to retire (kill) him. The scene occurs during a heavy downpour of rain, moments before Batty's own death. Reflecting on his experiences and imminent mortality, Batty perceptively says (with dramatic pauses between each statement):

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die."

With the above statement, Batty wants to "make his mark on existence ... as a replicant in the final scene, with his dying actions, he shows Deckard what a 'real man' is made of".

"Blade Runner" is a US film which is directed by Ridley Scott and produced by Michael Deeley. The film's screenplay is by Hampton Fancher and David Peoples. It was based on "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick. Harrison Ford appears as a policeman in Los Angeles in the year 2019, when the Earth's environment has been destroyed, and it rains all the time. The policeman, Deckard (Ford) is in his job to find and kill a group of intelligent machines (replicants). They look and act like normal human beings.
