Donald Francis Shula (aka Don Shula) holds the record for being the National Football League's (NFL) most successful coach. He is an American former professional football coach and is best known as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins. This is the team that he led to two Super Bowl victories, and to the only perfect season in the history of the National Football League. During his career, in November 1993, Shula scored his 325th career victory, breaking George Halas’s record. When he retired in 1995, he had won more games than any other NFL coach, with a record of 347–173–6 (.665), including play-off games.

Shula began coaching in 1958 as an assistant at the University of Virginia. The following year he was at the University of Kentucky. Next, he was defensive backfield coach for the Detroit Lions (1960–62) before becoming head coach of the Baltimore Colts in 1963. It was in 1970 that he became the coach of the Miami Dolphins. With his Miami team, he became the first NFL coach to win 100 regular-season games in 10 seasons (1963–72). In 1997, Shula was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Don Shula was born on January 4, 1930, in Grand River, Ohio, USA. As of 2019, Shula has lived to be 89 years old. Plus he has received a number of great honors. Two which have truly pleased him are the Don Shula Stadium at John Carroll University, and the Don Shula Expressway in Miami, FL.
