Even in the age of digital technology and movie streaming, radio lives on as a form of entertainment. Around the world, several shows that began in the 1920s continue, either live or pre-recorded.

The longest-running radio show is the "Grand Old Opry." The show got its start as a live music show in Nashville in 1925. At the time, it was called "The WSM Barn Dance."

Since it followed a classical music show, the presenter joked that the audience was listening to "the grand ole opry," a play on the word "opera." The name stuck. Over the years, some of the greatest names in country music have performed on the show, including Dolly Parton, Hank Williams, and Garth Brooks.
