Besides being directed by Scorsese, "The Wolf of Wall Street" has a screenplay that was written by Terence Winter, based on the 2007 memoir of Jordan Belfort. It recounts Belfort's perspective on his career as a stockbroker in New York City, NY. It focuses on how his firm, Stratton Oakmont, engaged in rampant corruption and fraud on Wall Street, which ultimately led to his downfall. Leonardo DiCaprio, who was also a producer on the film, stars as Belfort. Supporting DiCaprio is Jonah Hill as his business partner and friend, Donnie Azoff. Margot Robbie playing Naomi Lapaglia becomes Jordan's wife after they have an illicit affair. Kyle Chandler as FBI agent Patrick Denham will work very hard as he tries to bring Belfort down.

This film received positive reviews from critics and fans, along with some moral censure. It was also nominated for five Oscars at the 86th Academy Awards ceremony: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor (DiCaprio) and Best Supporting Actor (Hill).
