The 1951 American epic historical drama film "Quo Vadis" (Latin, "Where are you going?") is a film that was made by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) in Technicolor and directed by Mervyn LeRoy. It was produced by y Sam Zimbalist, from a screenplay by John Lee Mahin, S.N. Behrman, and Sonya Levien. They adapted their story from the 1896 novel "Quo Vadis" by the Polish Nobel Laureate author Henryk Sienkiewicz. The film's score was provided by Miklós Rózsa; the excellent cinematography was by Robert Surtees and William V. Skall. Cecil B. DeMille did not have any type of connection whatsoever with the production of this film.

Stars of the film who made it a success include Robert Taylor, Deborah Kerr, Leo Genn, and Peter Ustinov. It also features Patricia Laffan, Finlay Currie, Abraham Sofaer, Marina Berti, Buddy Baer, and Felix Aylmer. Additionally, Anthony Mann worked on the film for 4 weeks as an uncredited second-unit director, and Sergio Leone was an uncredited assistant director of Italian extras. Future Italian stars Sophia Loren and Bud Spencer appeared as uncredited extras.

"Quo Vadis" was nominated for 8 Academy Awards (it won none). Regarding the box office, it was a huge success. It was credited with single-handedly preventing MGM from filing corporate bankruptcy. On a budget of $7.6 million US dollars, it grossed $21 million.
