Strapping a piece of duct tape to get rid of warts is called the MacGyver cure. In fact, a new study finds it's just as effective as those liquid nitrogen treatments, which children are so afraid of. Researchers believe the therapy is going to be popular soon, as it's a safe and nonthreatening treatment for all little patients. It's probably fair, as unpleasant nitrogen treatments upset even some grown-ups.

But does it actually work? In fact, duct-tape therapy looks to be even more effective than cryotherapy. The results of the researches are the following: duct tape won over cryotherapy, as 85% of the duct tape patients were wart-free, compared with 60% of the cryotherapy group.

Actually, the majority of "duct-taped warts" disappeared within 28 days - while the majority of cryotherapy-treated warts needed two or even more treatments, spaced at least two weeks apart.

How does it work? The researchers say the duct-tape therapy might work by stimulating the patient's immune system.
