How did Tennesse Williams die?
On February 24, 1983, Tennessee Williams choked to death on a bottle cap at his New York City residence at the Hotel Elysee. He is buried in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition to twenty-five full length plays, Williams produced dozens of short plays and screenplays, two novels, a novella, sixty short stories, over one-hundred poems and an autobiography. Among his many awards, he won two Pulitzer Prizes and four New York Drama Critics’ Circle Awards.

On February 25, 1983, Williams was found dead at age 71 in his suite at the Hotel Elysée in New York City. Chief Medical Examiner of New York City Elliot M. Gross reported that Williams had choked to death from inhaling the plastic cap of a bottle of the type used on bottles of nasal spray or eye solution.[48] The report was later corrected on August 14, 1983, to state that Williams had been using the plastic cap found in his mouth to ingest barbiturates[49] and had actually died from a toxic level of Seconal.

I NEVER heard that there was a bottle cap involved! I knew he'd taken too much secobarbital and asphyxiated but didn't know there was a bottle cap in the story and neither does Google or Wikipedia for some reason!? Mysterious!

Could be two answers. He choked on a bottle cap while swallowing Opioids. Bigger problem today. Guess he was ahead of his time.

I also heard that choking on a cap was a disputed story. I don't recall that he was possibly murdered but I am not questioning it. I loved every word that he ever wrote (for what my opinion is worth).
