Niagara Falls forms the international border between New York and Ontario. It is truly one of the great wonders in North America as tourists from across the world visit the beauty of Niagara Falls. The Niagara Falls are made up of 3 waterfalls, the American Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls and the Horseshoe Falls.It was on this day, January 2nd, in 1929, that the US and Canada agreed to preserve Niagara Falls. If left alone, the falls were going to erode and ultimately be destroyed. However, with intervention by both nations, the Niagra River was diverted allowing the great Niagra Falls to stay strong for the foreseeable future.

Used to go every year as we had summer property nearby. What was amazing was seeing the American Falls shut off for erosion control.

It has been over 40 years since I have been. Back then, you didn't need a passport to visit the Candadian side. They had a while line dividing the two countries and my dad took a picture of me with one foot in the US and the other in Canada. I have seen documentaries on Niagra and still recall there were three separate falls and for some reason the Canadian side is more beautiful than the American side. What the hay, we DID beat the Russians to the moon, didn't we?

Ok..I got this one wrong.....Although I visited the Falls many times....I still think there are two Falls. The next time I visit the Falls, I will specifically look for the 3rd one.

I HAVE LIVED NEAR THE FALLS MY WHOLE LIFE AND HAVE VISITED THERE AT LEAST 40-50 TIMES... AND I JUST NEVER GET TIRED OF THE FALLS. IT'S A WONDERFUL PLACE TO VISIT. OR TO GO ON A NICE RELAXING VACATION. SO MANY THINGS TO SEE AND DO...............
