How many times has the USA hosted the Olympic games?

The USA has hosted the Olympics 8 times. Four Summer Olympics were held in the US:

St. Louis 1904
Los Angeles 1932
Los Angeles 1984
Atlanta 1996

And four Winter Olympics:

Lake Placid 1932
Squaw Valley 1960
Lake Placid 1980
Salt Lake City 2002

More than 200 nations participate each Olympics. It's considered to be the first sport event in the world. The 20-21st centuries' Olympics gave birth to such competitions as Youth Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. The Winter Olympics was also occurred in 1924, while Ancient Olympic Games took place in Ancient Greece from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD.

Spike Holmes Well guys, it only specifies the Olympic Games. Not; summer, winter, spring or fall. Just the Olympic Games. You guys should be disqualified for poor sportsmanship, just like in the Olympics.

DannyBoy, the Olympics have always been divided into Winter and Summer games. Though these days they are not held in the same year. And at least they're not counting LA hosting in 2028.

One of the eight was Squaw Valley, CA in 1960. The US government has renamed anything with "squaw" in it. This location is now known as Palisades Tahoe.

There is a bit of history behind the United States hosting the "1996 Summer Olympic Games." The "Summer Olympics" during that time was the celebration of the 100th Olympiad. The "Summer Olympics Games" were scheduled to be held in the host country of Greece, that started it all back in the day. Unfortunately, the country of Greece, wasn't equipped to deal with the visit from countries around the world. Obviously, the country of Greece, did get it's chance of hosting the "Summer Olympics Games" in 2004.
