After 108 years of waiting, the Cubs won the 2016 World Series with a wild 8-7, 10-inning Game 7 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night November 3rd at Cleveland, Ohio's Progressive Field. The triumph completed their climb back from a 3-1 Series deficit to claim their first championship since 1908.

A roller-coaster of emotions spilled out in a game that lasted almost five hours, featuring some wacky plays, a blown four-run lead, a 17-minute rain delay, and some 10th inning heroics that sealed the deal.

It was a perfect ending for a franchise that had waited forever for just one championship, and our stomachs never will be the same.

This was not a dream. The Cubs did it.

Anybody can have a bad century. This makes the song, a dying cubs fan last request by Steve Goodman to be dated, specifically the line about not winning the pennant since the year we dropped the bomb on Japan. (He was an extreme cubs fan that died in the mid 80s.)

And, in winning, they got rid of "The Curse of the Goat." When the Cubs went to the Series in 1945, a tavern owner named Bill Sianis was told that he couldn't take his pet goat into Wrigley Field. Sianis shouted, "I hope the Cubs lose the Series and never win another pennant!" For years afterward, when the Cubs came close but never got to the Series, fans blamed it on him & the goat.
