In cell biology, what is mitosis?
In cell biology, mitosis is a part of the cell cycle in which replicated chromosomes are separated into two new nuclei. Cell division gives rise to genetically identical cells in which the total number of chromosomes is maintained. Therefore, mitosis is also known as equational division.
Mitosis occurs only in eukaryotic cells. Prokaryotic cells, which lack a nucleus, divide by a different process called binary fission. Most animal cells undergo a shape change, known as mitotic cell rounding, to adopt a near-spherical morphology at the start of mitosis. Most human cells are produced by mitotic cell division. Important exceptions include the gametes – sperm and egg cells – which are produced by meiosis.

I do not appreciate the fact that too many people seem to be trying to be tricky with these questions by offering misleading choices, look up the definition and the word daughter is used to define mitosis. Why would you use the same or too similar terminology and words , unless the author of the question is actually trying not to provide fun TRIVIA but rather being slick and oily like a used car salesperson! Put the definition as an option and do not use parts of said definition as an incorrect option.
Why would you do this?? This type of deceit and deception only ends up upsetting people. I ask again WHY WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF TRYING TO DECEIVE??

This is a trivia game not a cell biology class. I appreciate the thought and background put into this but this might be a bit much. After researching this and asking our biology professor at a local university, his reply was, “I like that. I think I’ll add that to my test.”

I never had a biology course in high school or college but I remember learning this subject somewhere. It must have been in the zoology class that I took during the semester that I switched from forestry to fisheries. Due to just that class, I switched back.
