In the 2020 Netflix series, Adam Pålsson stars as a young version of which fictional Scandinavian detective?

Adam Gustav Justus Pålsson (born 25 March 1988 in Österhaninge) is a Swedish actor and musician. He has worked at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm and is known for his portrayal of Kurt Wallander in the 2020 Netflix web series "Young Wallander" and as the lead Tom Blixen in the TV series "Moscow Noir".

In an interview about his role as Kurt Wallander in "The Guardian" he explained he was able to connect with the character of Wallander as his family are from the same area of Sweden. He is also the only Swedish actor in the series.

"Young Wallander" is a crime drama streaming television series, based on Henning Mankell's fictional Inspector Kurt Wallander. Pålsson explained that the pre-imagining (i.e. Young Wallander being set in the present day) made more sense than a straight prequel as it allowed for the social commentary which is a strong element of Mankell's original Wallander. This choice of setting the series in the modern day has been criticised in a number of reviews.
