In modern day dollars, the purchase would have cost $309 million, therefore the price in today's dollars was $1.71 per acre. You asked for today's dollars, not the price in 1803.

I think your calculations are off. Your answer should maybe say APPROX 50 cents although even that is wrong. 530,000,000 acres for $15,000,000 is approx 0.03 per acre. Adjusting that for inflation, I come up with 0.61. At the exact cost of 0.028, it comes out to 0.57. If I do it a bit more accurate way and adjust the $15,000,000 to today's $, it comes to $305,822,333.03. Divide by 530,000,000 acres and it works out to 0.58. So any way I work it your "less than 50c" is incorrect. You have to change it to "less than 60c" to be technically correct.
