In which 1960 Broadway play did American actress Jane Fonda make her acting debut?

Jane Seymour Fonda (born 1937) is an accomplished American actress who has received multiple awards and accolades for her acting career that began with her debut Broadway play in 1960 titled, ‘There Was a Little Girl.’ For her performance on stage, she received a nomination for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play. The play is the story of a well-bred 18-year-old girl who is assaulted and raped by hoodlums.

Late that same year she made her film debut with the romantic comedy ‘Tall Story’. Multiple film appearances followed as well as additional nominations for awards over the subsequent decades.

In 1982, she changed her focus and released her first exercise video, ‘Jane Fonda’s Workout’, which became the highest-selling VHS (Video Home System) of all time. This was the first of 22 videos over the next 13 years, which would collectively sell over 17 million copies.

In addition to her stage, film and exercise videos, she was a visible activist in the counterculture era during the Vietnam War.

One event brought her notoriety- as a result of her photograph sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun on a 1972 visit to Hanoi, she was effectively blacklisted in Hollywood.
