The finals of the men's Keirin event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, held on 8th August 2021 at the Izu Velodrome, was won by Jason Kenny of Great Britain. He was followed by Azizulhasni Awang of Malaysia in silver position and Harrie Lavreysen of the Netherlands in bronze position.

Keirin, a Japanese word for "racing cycle", is a cycle event in which competitors race for victory following a speed-controlled start behind a motorized or non-motorized pacer. For three laps on a 250 m (270 yd) track, racers remain behind the pacer, gradually increasing their speed from 30 km/h (19 mph) to 50 km/h (31 mph). The pacer leaves the track 750 m (820 yd) before the end of the third lap, after which the racers may increase their speed over 70 km/h (43 mph). The race was developed in Japan in 1948 and became an official event at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

Sir Jason Francis Kenny (born 1988) is the record holder of seven Olympic gold medals. As of 2021, he has won the most Olympic golds and medals for a cyclist. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Kenny won a gold medal in the team sprint. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, he won gold medals in both the team sprint and the individual sprint. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, he won the Team Sprint and the Individual Sprint again, as well as the Keirin.
