The highest major summit in the USA is Mount McKinley (Denali). It is located in the Alaska Range. The ten highest mountain peaks of the USA are all located in Alaska. Among the 100 highest major summits of the US 23 are located in Alaska. Most of the hundred are located in Colorado in the number of 53, then Alaska, California (14) and Wyoming (5) go.

It depends on if you measure from sea level or from the base of the mountain. Mauna Kea is taller if you measure from the base.

I've seen Mt. McKinley. And I firmly believe that they should rename it with its original name that it had before they decided to name it after a president -- Denali.
