The AMC Javelin is an American front-engine, rear wheel drive, two-door hardtop produced and sold by AMC in two generations, 1968-1970 and 1971-1974. It became one of the several notable show cars styled by the renowned designer Dick Teague. The Javelin was considered a true masterpiece available for a wide range of customers. They could choose an affordable pony car or buy a performance-oriented muscle car variant. In addition to manufacture in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Javelins were assembled under license in different countries, such as Germany, Mexico, Venezuela, and even Australia —and were marketed globally.

AMC cars had great acceleration [ 32 fps] if you dropped them out of an airplane. In 1970, 71 & 72 I was drag racing a dominant Ford Torino & no owner of an AMC would have wasted his entry money or subjected himself to the embarrassment he would suffer when beaten like a rented mule.

Lynn Cluff, 70 was the last year of the AMX with the short wheelbase. Last year racing them, too. Shirley Muldowney ran a Red, White and Blue one in drags.
