The thing is that most Christian countries that use the Gregorian or the Julian calendars, celebrate this holiday on the 1st of January. In other countries that traditionally or currently use calendars other than the two mentioned above, the holiday is an important celebration as well. However, it is observed on other days. Moreover, New Year's Day in the alternative calendar attracts alternative celebrations of the holiday. For example, Ethiopian New Year is called Enkutatash. It is celebrated on the 11th of September. Thai New Year is celebrated on the 13th of April. Islamic new year is celebrated on the first day of the first month of Islamic calendar.
