Lake Erie is one of the five famous Great Lakes, located he upper midwest region of North America. Lake Erie is the smallest by volume and the shallowest lake among them. Rattlesnake Island is located on this lake and belongs to the so-called Lake Erie Islands group. This 85-acre island used to be inhabited by rattlesnakes, from which this piece of land got its name. Some people also believe that the name is connected with the shape of the island.
