They are considered one of the all-time great screen pairings after buddying up for two movie classics, "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" (1969) and "The Sting".

"The Sting" is an American film which was set in September 1936, involving a complicated plot by two professional grifters (Paul Newman and Robert Redford) to con a mob boss (Robert Shaw). The film was directed by George Roy Hill, who had directed Newman and Redford in the western "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". Created by screenwriter David S. Ward, the story was inspired by real-life cons perpetrated by brothers Fred and Charley Gondorff.

"The Sting" was produced by Tony Bill, Michael Phillips, and Julia Phillips. It was distributed for public release in December 1973 by Universal Pictures.

Both movies are great, but I loved “The Sting” for its great writing and plot twists. Redford and Newman were outstanding in both of these.

Read a lovely story regarding Paul Newman, He stopped by a drug store to buy an ice cream, the lady in front was also buying a ice cream. As she turn she became all flustered as she recognized him, grabbed her changed, closed her bag and took off. As Paul was about to give his order, the lady came back and ask if she had left her Ice cream behind, Paul very politely said "No ma'm, you put it in your handbag". In her fluster at meeting Paul Newman, she had put her ice cream in her handbag and kept her change in her hand. Never forgot that story and is true apparently

This was a great movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid had major memorable lines. My personal favorite? "Swim, hell. The fall alone will kill you." followed closely by "Who ARE those guys?"
