Short track speed skating is a form of competitive ice speed skating. In competitions, multiple skaters (typically between four and six) skate on an oval ice track with a length of 111.12 metres (364.6 ft). The rink itself is 60 metres (200 ft) long by 30 metres (98 ft) wide, which is the same size as an Olympic-sized figure skating rink and an international-sized ice hockey rink. Short track speed skating is the sister sport to long track speed skating and the cousin sport to inline speed skating.

If you said "figure" skating as one answer, then you should have said "speed" skating, not ice skating as the other. Both are forms of ice skating, but when you just say ice skating you could also include kids on the backyard rink (not a sport) or ice hockey. Sadly, some of these quiz questions and answers are rather sloppy.

Kat, I don't like to complain but you are absolutely right. The question should be cleaned up. I knew the answer right off, especially when I saw "figure skating," but was looking for "speed skating." "Ice skating" was the right choice, but an ambiguous answer.

The answer should be speed skating. There is also short track auto racing where the distance is less than one mile.

Ice Skating is more of a hobby, Figure Skating is a skill in performing short routines accurately, a very fine skill indeed. Both these have no bearing on the actual answer of Speed Skating.
