"Waiting for Anya" is a historical war drama film co-written and directed by Ben Cookson, released in 2020. It is a film adaptation of the 1990 novel of the same name by Michael Morpurgo. The film stars Noah Schnapp, Thomas Kretschmann, Frederick Schmidt, Jean Reno, and Anjelica Huston. The film premiered at 2020 Miami Jewish Film Festival and was released on 21 February 2020.

Set during World War II, Jo who is a Shepard, stumbles on a dangerous secret. Jewish children are being smuggled away from the Nazis, close to his mountain village in Spain. German soldiers have been stationed at the border and Jo must get word to his friends that the children are in danger.

Sir Michael Andrew Bridge Morpurgo (born Michael Andrew Bridge; 5 October 1943) is an English book author, poet, playwright, and librettist. He is known best for children's novels such as "War Horse" (1982) and "Waiting for Anya" (1990) which have both been adapted into films. His work is noted for its "magical storytelling", for recurring themes such as the triumph of an outsider or survival, for characters' relationships with nature, and for vivid settings such as the Cornish coast or World War I. Morpurgo became the third Children's Laureate, from 2003 to 2005.
