The Typically Tropical hit single was named "Barbados". It is a story of a Barbados bus driver, working in Brixton, London, UK. He flies back home to Barbados for a well earned vacation on a fictional Coconut Airways flight. The song is a brisk reggae tune.

Typically Tropical were a British band comprising two Trojan Records audio engineers, Jeff Calvert and Max West. They are best known for their 1975 number one hit record "Barbados" and for writing the 1978 disco hit "I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper" by Hot Gossip.

This song has been covered by Australian band Models in 1980s, and by Dutch Vengaboys in 1999, who changed the destination as Ibiza. Finnish singer Pirkka-Pekka Petelius has translated the song into Finnish and changed the theme into a Finnish domestic flight.
