The Brooklyn Bridge was originally referred to as the East River Bridge

The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest hybrid bridges in the US. Its construction began on the 3rd of January, 1870. It was completed in 1883 and today the bridge connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Moreover, it was the first steel-wire suspension bridge constructed. The bridge spans the East River and originally it was known as the East River Bridge. The bridge is an icon of New York City.

The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the most recognisable structures on the planet and has been existence since 1869...meaning it will be 150 years old soon....to me that seems like a very very good value for what it has done and continues to do to this day. That is a very strong comment about such an amazing architectural success

I was very impressed about the deeper history of the "Brooklyn Bridge" about during the construction of the bridge, that $45 million dollars was embezzled from the project.

Ditto here! My dad grew up on Staten Island and knew the city well. He was a fancier of history and could facintate you for hours telling the tales of history. He told me the story of the bridge and even took me to Philadelphia to the statue of William Penn. I was enamered by the story and wish I could hear him tell it again.
