"The Curse of the Billy Goat" affects what sports team?

The Curse of the Billy Goat is a sports-related curse that was allegedly placed on the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball franchise in 1945, when Billy Goat Tavern owner Billy Sianis was asked to leave game 4 of the World Series against the Detroit Tigers at the Cubs' home ballpark of Wrigley Field because the odor of his pet goat (named Murphy) was bothering other fans. He was outraged and allegedly declared, "Them Cubs, they ain't gonna win no more," which has been interpreted to mean that there would never be another World Series game won at Wrigley Field. The Cubs have not won a World Series since 1908, or played in one since 1945.

You need to update this to include their 2016 World Series win. Can you explain if the curse is no longer operative? Did Sianis's family lift the curse? This site may explain that the curse is still in effect.

In 2016, the Cubs broke the “Billy Goat Curse “ by becoming a handful of teams that have come back from a 3-1 deficit in the Fall Classic to win it, as they defeated the hard luck Cleveland Indians, 4 games to 3!!

The 1908 game 4 Cubs vs Tigers began at 1:18pm. It took Cubs 118 years to win. Coincidence, I'm not so sure.

It never did that to any team. Cubs fans just seem to like blaming anyone but their players, GMs and owners. The Goat, the black cat that crossed in front of Ton Santo in the on-deck circle, Bartman.

Of course they won the world series! I'm not a Cubs fan, but I was pulling for them! Another agonizing (but funny, for Mets fans) fact for the Cubs was the Cubs/Mets playoff games the year before they won. Daniel Murphy with his home runs was the bain of the Cubs that year. Murphy was name of the famous goat!

I was raised in Southwest Chicago and a Sox fan!!!!! I never heard this tale before, but, of course, I did not follow anything about the Cubs. Very interesting piece of history
