There are more than 200,000,000,000 stars in the Milky Way
For many years scientists have studied our own solar system. But until the last few years, we knew of no other solar systems. This may seem surprising, as the Sun is one of about 200 billion stars (or perhaps more) just in the Milky Way galaxy alone.

This answer is INCORRECT! Many sources state it is impossible to know for sure; but while some people believe there are 300 or even 400 billion stars, the official accepted estimate is 100 billion.
