True or False: Elizabeth of York was the first Tudor queen
Elizabeth of York became the Queen consort of England on the 18th of January, 1486.
There are some interesting facts about her life:
1. She is known as the first Tudor queen.
2. She was the mother of Henry VIII.
Henry VIII is one of the most famous English kings. Besides his numerous marriages, he was known for his role in the separation of the Church of England from the Roman Catholic Church. His disagreements with the Pope were caused by the refusal of the Church to annul his first marriage. What do you think about it? Was it really that necessary for the Kingdom?

I have read that Henry VIII's first daughter Mary was called the first Tudor Queen!

It was Henry viii, not Henry vii who married 6 times and caused the separation from the Catholic Church. Henry vii only married Elizabeth of York.

It was Henry VIII, the Tudor king, who had the six marriages, not Henry VII, his father. I did not know that Henry VII's wife was named Elizabeth, but both of Henry VIII's daughters, Mary I and Elizabeth I, reigned as queens along wth his son Edward, a weakling, who died at a very young age. The question was a little confusing . And, yes, I feel it was necessary to curtail papal authority in England, which, I believe, is the first country in the world to do so.

It was Henry the eighth not Henry the seventh separated England from the Roman Catholic Church. Elizabeth was not the first Tudor Queen she was the last Tudor Queen ...Elizabeth the first was the product of his marriage to Anne Boleyn....Marythe first Tudor Queen was his daughter by his wife Catherine of Aragon

The write-up on my screen has accurate information. It says that Elizabeth of York was the mother of Henry VIII. Elizabeth became Queen in 1486 . Henry VIII became King in 1509.

What about Mary 1....Bloody Mary?....Before her, the house was ruled by the House of Plantagenet. Henry was descendant of his mother, from the House of Lancaster. the Tudors came into power after the War of the Roses, which destroyed the House of Lancaster, the ancestral family of the Tudors. Mary was the FIRST Tudor Queen, followed by Henry VII....a whole King prior to the answer given.

Are you sure Elizabeth of York is entitled to use the title "queen". Many consorts are not allowed the title. Queen Elizabeth's husband, Philip, is a consort and can't call himself king.

Elizabeth the white rose queen, was the oldest daughter of King Edward IV and she had the direct bloodline from the Yorks while King Henry VII (her husband) had a broken line from the Lancasters (red rose). His marriage to Elizabeth strengthened his claim to the throne. There had never been a crowned ruling queen in England up to then. Their oldest daughter Margaret was sent for royal marriage to Scotland. Margaret's granddaughter was Mary Queen of Scots.
