"True Romance" is the debut studio album of which English singer?

Charlotte Emma Aitchison (born 2 August 1992), known professionally as Charli XCX, is an English singer and songwriter. Born in Cambridge and raised in Start Hill, Essex, she began posting songs on Myspace in 2008, which led to her discovery by a promoter who invited her to perform at warehouse raves. In 2010, she signed a recording contract with Asylum Records, releasing a series of singles and mixtapes throughout 2011 and 2012.

In 2012, Charli XCX rose to prominence with the Icona Pop collaboration "I Love It", which became an international success, reaching top 10 in North America and Europe. Her debut studio album, "True Romance" (2013), was released that year to critical acclaim but failed to meet commercial expectations.

Charli explained the meaning behind the album's title: "Every corner of my own romantic history is explored on this record, so for me, it's very raw, it's very honest, and it's very true." The majority of the album's tracks were previously released on the "You're the One" EP, and through the "Heartbreaks and Earthquakes" and "Super Ultra" mixtapes. The album is named after the Quentin Tarantino-written 1993 film of the same name, which is sampled on "Velvet Dreaming" from the "Super Ultra" mixtape. On 9 April 2013, the standard edition of album became available to stream on "Pitchfork" in full.
