Umpires have been inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Through the elections for 2015, a total of 310 individuals have been inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

The list includes 215 former Major League Baseball players, 35 Negro league baseball players and executives, 22 managers, 10 umpires, and 28 pioneers, executives, and organizers.

114 members of the Hall of Fame have been inducted posthumously, including four who died after their selection was announced. Of the 35 Negro league members, 29 were inducted posthumously, including all 24 selected since the 1990s.

Baseball Hall of Fame is much tougher to get into than the Basketball Hall of Fame.. EVERY NBA player who received a Most Valuable Player award has been eventually voted into the Basketball HOF; not the same can be said for baseball. Glad to see that some good umpires made it... I'm sure Don Denkinger isn't one of them. St Louis Cardinals fans of a certain age will understand my last statement about Denkinger...

Fans need to remember they have a very different view in the stands than the umpires on the field that are within,most of the time, 2 feet to five of the play. It’s harder than you think to see a foot hit a bag and hear a ball ball go into a glove than you think!!! Don’t fuss until you wear the Uniform yourself first!!

I hope Dutch Rennert (?) and Harry Wendlestadt are among them! You could hear Dutch call balls and strikes from the farthest nosebleed seat in ANY ballpark!

A little more on the better known umpires would have been better than the focus on Negro League players since the question was, in fact, about u.pires inducted . . . who was the first umpire inducted? Who are the more recent inclusions?, Eric then do a separate question on Negro League players . . . but that's just my opinion as a four-decade sports journalist.
