What are baby sharks called?

"Small monsters"? They are just one of the ocean's creatures (or God's creatures if one prefers) doing what they've evolved (or been designed) to do for 10s of 1,000s of years,( +/-6,000 years) which occasionally treat us humans as what we really are - just another animal on this Earth that could be a meal. But monsters? No. How many sharks have we killed compared to how many humans have been killed by sharks? If there are any 'monsters' on this Planet, its the humans who have decimated more creatures (and themselves) than any other creatures have, include sharks.

Sharks are essential to the ecosystem they live in. We need to preserve predators or face overpopulation of lesser species and upset the balance of nature.

I don't know who thinks they are monsters, but I have held sharks in my arms. I have swam with hundreds of Hammerheads, have even been in the water with a Great White. They are not the vicious creature TV and movies make them out to be. They follow natural instinctual behavior they clean the sea of the sick and make the oceans healthier. So monsters, no they are not, just watch one swim, poetry in motion.

After reading the write-up on "sharks" & their offsprings. Wow! Talk about the mother shark neglecting her young when they are born in life.

I wouldn't call sharks monsters but that's beside the point. Thanks to my son loving sharks, I knew the answer to this one.

As a scuba diver around various Pacific Islands, I always regared the waters as their world, I was just passing through (generally as unobtruseively as I could manage), but at night they seemed to be facinated by the lights and bubbles, and of course our string of catch for the night would lead then straight to us. It made things interesting. One night a new-be launched a spear at one! It literally bounced but the shark did not even seem to notice it was so focused on the lights and bubbles.

Sharks are born in three different ways. Sharks lay eggs that then hatch, carry eggs that hatch inside them or grow pups inside them

Pups!!! Yes Sharks are no different from pups of another " kind". Some dogs and their pups are gentle creatures,some are downright scary.I personally find Sharks scary ,given the number of attacks,but then there are some dog attacks too .Jury's out on that for me,but I have an open mind
