The Garden of the Gods within the USA is an area that joins the Great Plains to pinon-juniper woodlands of the American Southwest. People from all over the world each year explore almost 300 million years of geological history in the Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gardens area just outside Colorado Springs, CO.

In the summer months, most visitors come and tour the 1,367 acre Garden of the Gods. The area is a special location. It is a unique biological melting pot, where the grasslands of the Great Plains meet the pinon-juniper woodlands and merge with the forest of 14,115 foot Pikes Peak mountain. The Garden of the Gods is an outstanding illustration of the lithologic character of sedimentary rocks, and of the vertical forces that produced the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Located within the Garden of the Gods, the site contains the uncommon honey ant and is one of the best places in Colorado for observing white throat-ed swifts, swallows, and canyon wrens.
