Rom is a recurring character on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." He is played by Max Grodénchik. The series originally aired for seven seasons from January 1993 to June of 1999. "ST:DS9" ran for 176 episodes. The show featured a large and diverse ensemble cast.

Rom, a supporting character, is a Ferengi, the son of Keldar and Ishka. He is the brother of Quark who owns a bar, casino, and holo-suites on the station's Promenade. Rom's son is Nog, who breaks with Ferengi traditon by joining Starfleet.

On the show, Rom is often used for comic relief, but over the show's run the character grows in importance. In the early seasons he works at Quark's restaurant. In later seasons, the character becomes part of the space station maintenance/engineering staff and marries a beautiful Bajoran Dabo girl named Leeta. Season 7 of the series sees Rom become the Grand Nagus, leader of the Ferengi Alliance.
