What color is Absinthe?

Absinthe is historically described as a distilled, highly alcoholic beverage. It is an anise-flavored spirit derived from botanicals, including the flowers and leaves of Artemisia absinthium ("grand wormwood"), together with green anise, sweet fennel, and other medicinal and culinary herbs. Absinthe traditionally has a natural green color, but may also be colorless. It is commonly referred to in historical literature as "la fée verte" (the green fairy). It is sometimes mistakenly referred to as a liqueur, but it is not traditionally bottled with added sugar and is, therefore, classified as a spirit.

Absinthe until recently, was completely banned in the U.S. and most of Europe. The reason for this is that absinthe contains thujone, a toxic chemical found in several edible plants including tarragon, sage, and wormwood. It is 45–74% alcohol by volume / 90–148 U.S. proof) beverage.

First, never heard of Absinthe. Second, would never partake in something that has the words "the and sin" in it. Should be a red flag right there.

Jim Blanton, moonshine was made originally made with battery acid for an extra kick. True story I watched them fish the auto battery carcasses out of the vat. Swear!

The bottle of absinthe I saw and tasted was clear. It holds no comparison to moonshine. Something else I never thought I would taste either.

It is colorless or green and changes color when mixed, I believe, it changes color

I’ve had absinthe recently dripped through a sugar cube and the whole ritual. Wasn’t impressed. I’d rather have an ice cold beer.

It was known to cause madness and psychosis due to the toxins which was why it was banned, it is now available again so guess they rectified the problem
