Milli Vanilla was a German-French R&B duo from Munich, Germany. Fab Morvan (5/14/1966 Paris, France, singer, songwriter, rapper, dancer, lip syncer, and model) and Rob Pilatus (6/8/1965-4/3/1998 Munich, West Germany, singer, dancer, model, lip syncer, and rapper), who were hired in 1988 by German producer, songwriter and singer Frank Farian (7/18/1941 Kirn, Rhineland-Palatinate, German, Reich) to perform his songs in Television shows and live.

Their genres included dance-pop, new jack swing and Eurodance. One of the groups associated acts included The Real Milli Vanilli.

Milli Vanilli's debut album, 'All or Nothing' in Europe, reconfigured as 'Girl You Know It's True' in the US, achieved international success and brought them a Grammy Award for Best New Artist on 2/21/1990.

They became one of the most popular pop acts in the late 1980s and early 1990s, with millions of records sold. However, their success turned infamy when it was discovered that Morvan and Pilatus did not sing any of the vocals on their music releases.

They ended up returning their Grammy Award. They recorded a comeback album in 1998 titled 'Back and in Attack', but its release was cancelled after Pilatus died at the age of 32 of suicide.

The documentary 'Milli Vanilli: From Fame to Shame', was directed by German Oliver Schwehm and produced by Hannah Lenitzk from Bremedia Produktion, was released in 2016.
