Charles Frank "Chuck" Mangione (born November 29, 1940) is an American flugelhorn player, trumpeter and composer.

After a stint with drummer Art Blakey's band and co-leading the Jazz Brothers with his sibling Gap, Chuck achieved international success in 1977 with his jazz-pop single, "Feels So Good." Even nowadays, this single is still considered one of the most recognizable in the history of the music industry of all time. In total, Mangione has released over 30 wonderful albums, and today he is continuing bringing joy to his fans.

The trumpet is 1/3 conical bore and 2/3 cylindrical bore which give it a brigher sound. The flugelhorn is mostlly conical bore giving it a more mellow tone.

My ex husband had his flugelhorn signed by Chuck Mangione as he brings this engraving instrument with him back stage after the concerts often, which is cool now but what if he'd lost his popularity and devalued my ex's flugelhorn (VERY cool instrument by the way)!

He played both, began as a trumpet player. It wasn't until later in his career he adopted the flugelhorn. Misleading question with two correct answers. Usually is time relative and no time period was specified in the question. until 1968 he "usually" played the trumpet after then he usually played the flugelhorn.
