What is a female donkey called?

The donkey or ass, is a domesticated member of the horse family, Equidae. The donkey has been very helpful for humanity for at least 5 thousand years, as the species is widely used as a working animal. Donkey originated in Africa, and even nowadays most donkeys there. There are a lot of them in underdeveloped countries, where they help people a lot in households. Most of them are used as draught or pack animals. There are less donkeys in the rest of the world, where they are kept mostly as pets or for breeding.

Horse terminology is diverse and complicated, so there are a lot of different terms used to describe the members of the equidae family. A male donkey or ass is called a jack, a female a jenny or jennet; a young donkey is a foal.

I was dropping off a load of Walnuts at a local farmer's hulling business. A donkey got out of its pen and was visiting people in the trucks ahead of mine. When it got to ours it stuck it's head in my window. My miniature dachshund took a liking to it and started licking it's nose. Unfortunately, the donkey did what donkeys sometimes do. It tried to bite me on the arm. My dachshund transformed from a loving dog to enraged beast in a split second. She desperately wanted to sink her fangs in the donkey's nose. The donkey moved on, my dachshund tried to jump out the window and go fight it. I told her NO. She started signalling to me that she needed to go potty. I laughed and told her " No, all you want to do is bite the donkey!" Later they put the donkey back in it's pen. I let my dachshund out on a leash just in case she really did have to potty. She didn't. She tried to track the donkey down instead.
