Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. was born on October 20, 1971 in Long Beach, California to Beverly Tate and Calvin Cordozar Broadus Sr.

He is known professionally as "Snoop Dogg" and was previously known as "Snoop Doggy Dogg" and was briefly known as "Snoop Lion" and is an American rapper, actor, television producer, film producer, film score composer, screenwriter, songwriter, record producer, voice actor and philanthropist.

Broadus became famous in 1992 when he featured on "Dr. Dre's" debut solo single, "Deep Cover," and after that he featured on "Dre's" debut solo album, "The Chronic".

"Snoop' Dogg's" debut album, "Doggystyle", was produced by "Dr. Dre" and released in 1993 by "Death Row Records". The album debuted at number one on both the "Billboard 200" and "Billboard" Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. The album produced several hit singles including "What's My Name?" and "Gin & Juice."

"Snoop Dogg" is one of the wealthiest and most successful rappers to come out of the 1990s rap scene, and one of the few still recording today.

"Snoop Dogg" has in his rapping career sold over 23 million albums in the United States and 35 million albums worldwide.
