Michael Schumacher (born 3 January 1969) s a retired German racing driver who raced in Formula One for Jordan Grand Prix, Benetton and Ferrari, where he spent most of his career, as well as for Mercedes upon his return to the sport. Widely regarded as one of the greatest Formula One drivers ever, and regarded by some as the greatest of all time, Schumacher is the only driver in history to win seven Formula One World Championships, five of which he won consecutively.

In December 2013 Schumacher suffered a severe brain injury in a skiing accident. He was placed in a medically induced coma until June 2014. He left hospital in Grenoble for further rehabilitation at the University Hospital of Lausanne, before being relocated to his home to receive medical treatment and rehabilitation privately in September 2014

What Schumie is known for is WINNING Formula One races and championships. Lewis Hamilton is closing in on his world championship number. It is hard to rate F-1 drivers over history simply by number of race wins, since today there are nearly three times as many races per year as there was during the early years. What sets Schumie apart is the way he would test the cars in which he raced. He didn't leave testing to "lesser" men, but did it himself. That's how Benneton become such a good car. Michael made it good. Very sad his skiing accident and head injury.

Tragic about the skiing accident he had some 5 years ago from which he may never recover. His son (also called Michael) is hoping to emulate his Father but as others have said Lewis Hamilton is fast approaching and beating Father Michael's achievements.
