Augusta is the capital of the U.S. state of Maine, county seat of Kennebec County, and center of population for Maine. The city's population is 18,560 (July 2006 est.). Located on the Kennebec River at the head of tide, it is home to the University of Maine at Augusta. Maine is the only state that shares its border with only one other state.

Portland used to be the Capitol. .but they moved it to Augusta.

I vacationed in York a couple of years ago in February.Beautiful sunrises and great seafood. York is mostly a spring break town but very quiet in winter. Beautiful scenery and people.
